How It Started

It all started when Andrew Faour, a student at the renowned Le Cordon Bleu, and his teacher Mathew Carpenter, teamed up to create a culinary experience that had long been forgotten. Combining Matthew's years of experience and culinary expertise with Andrews business savvy, they had their chance to open The Pub at Chino Hills! The Pub recreates the originally British gastropub and expands upon far more than just fine dining and high-end drinks. Not only does The Pub deliver a spectacular assortment of craft beers, wines and spirits while serving gourmet food, they do so with practical prices, catering to both locals and non-locals alike.

The Owners

After graduating with a business degree from Azusa Pacific University, Andrew decided to pursue his real passion, which was food. Having grown up in an Arab household, delicious food was always cooking and so he realized his zeal for food at a young age. With a degree in business and training from one of most acclaimed culinary institutes in Hollywood, Andrew was determined to reach his goal. The guidance he gained from Le Cordon Bleu allowed him to develop his palette and fine-tune his culinary skills. There, he met Matthew Carpenter, his co-owner and co-chef. Matthew not only had an impressive resume filled with accomplished restaurant experiences ranging from Bacar in San Francisco as far as Heston Blumenthals The Fat Duck in Bray, England, but also had the natural skill and work ethic that every business needed to be successful. His insight of food illustrated his know-how, which made him perfect for the partnership. Both Matthew and Andrew recognized how their culinary and business experience would work well together and so they began building upon their common goal. Andrew had the opportunity to further develop his skills by interning at several restaurants, such as The Bazaar and XIV, until he joined Matthew at his restaurant in Beverly Hills. Matthews restaurant, MoMed, is a modern take on Mediterranean food. Andrew promptly became Matthews sous-chef and they began churning out delicious recipes which kept MoMed a success. Working alongside one another day in and day out, they knew they could tackle the restaurant industry together and so Matthew left his position as executive chef and their adventurous search began.

The Pub

The opportunity for the location of The Pub nearly fell into co-owners Andrew and Matthews hands. And though a string of failed restaurants had haunted the location, they believed their exciting concept would definitely succeed. Originally, Andrew and Matthew were on a mission to open a restaurant in which they could serve gourmet quality food on the go. Though they had found the perfect setting, upon entering the restaurant they found the focal point of the dining area to be a large bar. They knew all along that their focus had been gourmet food, but after their discovery they decided to combine this with quality drinks as well. Simply, they built upon the idea of a gastropub. The idea wasnt enough; it required months of hard work, menu preparation, and remodeling, for their concept to come to life. The Pub At Chino Hills was finally open! The variety of gourmet starters, appetizers, salads, and entrees, are created using the finest ingredients. Including USDA Prime meats, fresh market fish, delicious arugula and live butter lettuce salads and some of the worlds finest cheeses. All of which are a great complement to the twenty draft beers and over 20 bottled or canned beers, ranging anywhere from local hefeweizen to European style dark ales. If beer is not for you then the worldwide selection of wines and exclusive spirits, which create many of The Pub's very own signature cocktails, will definitely satisfy your cravings of a delicious drink. Alongside the delectable dinner entrees is the assortment of lunch options. From customizable sandwiches to beef, buffalo, and salmon burgers, lunchtime is just as satisfying! Whether your visit is for lunch or dinner, you always want to follow it with what have become The Pub's signature desserts. Our dessert gives you the option of choosing some of our house made cookies, heath bar brownie, a variety of gelatos or even our perfect for any sweet tooth cakes!

Our goal is not only to provide great service and top quality food and drinks, but also do so without charging high prices.
